Rangers OF Cruz hits DL again

The  Texas Rangers  placed outfielder Nelson Cruz on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a left hamstring strain.

The move is retroactive to August 15.

It’s  the  third time  the 30-year-old has  been placed on  the DL this season — all with hamstring ailments.

Cruz’s  latest  setback came in Saturday’s  3-1 loss versus Boston when he was injured  running the  bases and exited after the seventh inning. The 2009 All- Star  sat  out Sunday’s series  finale and  underwent a precautionary MRI exam that revealed no structural damage.

Cruz  also missed  time with a right  hamstring strain from April 27 to May 13 and again from May 29 to June 21 with a strained left hamstring.

In  77  games this season,  he is hitting  .320 with 16  home runs and 64 runs batted in.

To  fill  the roster spot, the  club activated infielder Joaquin Arias off the 15-day  DL.  Arias has been  out since  July 31 with  a strained muscle in his back. He appeared in 46 games this season and his batting .275 with nine RBI.
