Bengals LB Maualuga to be fined, not suspended
Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga will not face a suspension, but will be fined, for pleading guilty to DUI
charges.
Maualuga was arrested and charged with drunken driving and careless driving in Covington, Kentucky on January 29. The Cincinnati Enquirer reported at the time that the 23-year-old Maualuga allegedly struck two parked cars and a parking meter and registered a blood-alcohol level of .157, well over the legal limit of .08.
On Tuesday, NFL.com reported that a source close to the situation revealed that Maualuga will be fined two game checks.
Maualuga is expected to make a full recovery from a broken ankle suffered in Week 16 against Kansas City that ended his rookie season early.
A second-round selection in the 2009 draft out of Southern California, Maualuga started 15 games in his rookie campaign totaling 63 tackles, one sack and three forced fumbles.
