Bills TE Nelson suspended

The National Football League has suspended Buffalo Bills tight end Shawn Nelson four games without pay for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

The second-year pro out of Southern Mississippi will start his suspension on September 4. He will be eligible to return to the Bills’ active roster October 4 following the team’s October 3 game against the New York Jets. Nelson is allowed to participate in all preseason practices and games.

The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder caught 17 passes for 156 yards and one touchdown during his rookie season.
