Aaron Curry traded from Seahawks to Raiders

The Oakland Raiders, fresh off an emotional victory last Sunday over Houston, sought to improve their front seven by reportedly acquiring linebacker Aaron Curry from the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday.
The former No. 4 overall pick in the 2009 draft will reportedly be moved for draft picks in 2012 and 2013, according to the Oakland Tribune. The trade is contingent on NFL approval, and Curry reporting to the Raiders and passing a physical.
Curry was a star in college at Wake Forest, showing his physicality on running downs and his speed in the middle of the nickel defense. As a senior, he won the Butkus Award as the nation’s top linebacker, but was never able to transfer his skills to the field with the Seahawks over 2 1/2 seasons.
He had just 22 tackles in five games, only two starts, this season after totaling 73 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks last season. He may get an early chance to show his worth in Oakland, as starting middle linebacker Rolando McClain has an ankle injury and reserve Ricky Brown was placed on injured reserve last week.
This is the first deal the Raiders have made since the death of longtime owner and general manager Al Davis, who passed away last Saturday.
